“Representative Smyk is well known for his constituent services,” said Marilyn Booker, Chair of the Sussex County GOP. “We routinely hear from voters of both parties in praise of his extraordinary dedication, caring, and follow through. He is as familiar at local HOA meetings as he is at public events. He is also well known for replying to virtually every communication sent to his office.”

When he wins, Smyk will replace Senator Ernesto Lopez(R), who has served three terms as representative of Senate District 6. Lopez was thrilled to hear of Smyk’s filing. “The people of the 20th Rep. District have been fortunate to have such a dedicated public servant as their State Representative. I am confident that his dedicated, bipartisan approach to problem solving will ensure that the Cape Region will continue to have a strong voice and effective representation in the Delaware State Senate.”

On Sunday, April 3, 2022, Friends for Steve Smyk hosted a successful campaign launch and fundraiser at Big Oyster Brewery in Lewes. Over 300 attendees came to support Rep. Smyk’s candidacy including law enforcement personnel, small business owners and registered voters consisting of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.

“I was humbled to see so many friends take time from their lives to support this campaign,” Rep. Smyk exclaimed. “I am excited to hit the campaign trail and to start working on behalf of the constituents in the 6th District.
