Updated: Mar 27, 2022

First in Series of Small Business Breakfast Meetings in Sussex County to Take Place on March 31 at Ocean Grill in Long Neck

Georgetown, Del., March 22—After two years of shutdowns and mandates affecting small businesses, the Sussex County Republican Party wants businesses to know that “we have their backs.” To that end, Sussex County Republican Chair Marilyn Booker today announced the first of a series of small business breakfasts to be held on the last Thursday of the month at various locations throughout the County to benefit small business owners.

The goal of the business breakfast series is twofold—to offer local business owners the latest information on federal contract opportunities, current regulations, and resources available to them, as well as to offer them opportunities to network with their fellow business leaders and hear from their elected representatives and candidates for office.

Bill Pettigrew, a senior advisor appointed by President Donald Trump, will speak at this first event, along with State Senator and business owner Gerald Hocker and County Councilman and business owner John Rieley.

Pettigrew believes that Delaware business owners are not aware of the many growth opportunities afforded them by the U.S. government. “Delaware really does not take advantage of federal procurement,” says Pettigrew. “In this world of remote meetings, and only two hours from Washington D.C., Delaware should be able to compete with the ‘Beltway Bandits’ and all of their lucrative contracts.”

Added Sussex GOP Chair Marilyn Booker, “All small business owners are welcome to attend this free event. Senator Hocker and County Councilman Rieley will be available to discuss the many ways the GOP can assist small businesses to succeed in this challenging environment.”
