WELCOMES THE HONORABLE JUDGE M. JANE BRADY

On September 25, 2019 SCRWC was delighted to have Jane Brady as the featured speaker at its dinner meeting held at the Sussex County Association of Realtors Building in Georgetown.  She was appointed Judge to the Superior Court in 2005.  A graduate of Christiana High School, she went on to graduate from the University of Delaware and received her law degree from Villanova University School of Law.  She was the first woman elected to the office of Attorney General for the State of Delaware and served from 1995-2005. This year, Judge Brady was elected as head of Delaware’s Republican Party.  She is dedicated to supporting candidate development by helping them learn what it takes to run a successful campaign. She notes that the Republican Party is at a big disadvantage in the state.  Our party needs to help those Republican candidates get the good work they are doing out into the public.

It is the mission of the Sussex County Republican Women’s Club to assist in the election of Republican candidates, act as an advocate for the Republican Party’s principles, and empower women to participate in the political process.  SCRWC, the largest Republican Women’s Club in Delaware, has been actively engaging women in the political process for more than six decades.  For additional information visit www.SCRWC.NET.

CELEBRATING THE 19TH AMENDMENT ON ITS 100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

The GOP ladies of Sussex County are hard at work ironing out the details for its commemoration of the Suffragette Movement which culminated in the passage of the 19th amendment.  This year, it’s fundraising committee led by Marilyn Booker, has planned a luncheon entitled “Fall into Fashion”.  Activities during the event will include a bake sale, door prizes and a silent auction of many items contributed by our local merchants.  Golf lovers take note. There will be six golf packages up for bid. Other items include a custom cake to be made at the winner’s choosing, and a freshwater pearl bracelet.  The highlight of the afternoon will be a fashion show featuring fashions from Lewes’s own, Twila Farrell.  Attendees are encouraged to wear something yellow in celebration of the passage of the 19th amendment, and to participate in a Suffragette Trivia game recalling names and important facts about the movement.  All attendees will receive a  favor box, so no one leaves empty handed. The buffet luncheon will be held at Mulligan’s Pointe Golf Club, 22426 Sussex Pines Road, Georgetown 19947 on October 20, 2019 from 12-4:00P.M.  Tickets are $40/pp plus a cash bar.  For more information: WWW.SCRWCFASHIONSHOW@GMAIL.COM
